I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Joe from his County Council days and although he was not a close friend, I always enjoyed his company. He was a true gentleman with a kind heart and was great fun. I last saw him in February at a Council Old Boys reunion, when he thought he was winning his brave battle with cancer. It is a terrible shame that he did not get to enjoy his retirement. My enduring memory of Joe is from when he was playing football for Italia Utd. I was in the opposition and he came up for a corner and bulldozed his way into the area to score from a header.
